Applies to:PeopleSoft Enterprise FIN Maintenance Management - Version 9.1 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
In release 9.1 bundle #23, production, the customer adds a note to a Work Order, but if it is over 256 characters, the following message occurs:
The value was too long for the field WM_WOE_WRK.NOTE (labeled 'Note'). It requires truncation to 256 characters. (126,141).
The message only occurs AFTER hitting OK, but more importantly, this is causing frustration with the field engineers when they are completing work orders as they need to be able to put in as many notes on the equipment repair as desired.
Steps to replicate:
1. Go to Maintenance Management, Work Order Management, Work Order Completion. Find an existing value. Enter a BU and Work order ID.
2. Change the status to Acknowledged (or any value). Select Go.
3. Start typing and then hit OK. If you go over 256 characters, you get this warning:
"The value was too long for the field WM_WOE_WRK.NOTE (labeled 'Note'). It requires truncation to 256 characters. (126,141). A long edit box on the page allows essentially unlimited text, but the record field specified that the field is of fixed length. You entered a value longer than that limitation, so the value requires truncation to the record field. OK."
4. Another area where this occurs is on the Technician Workbench Notes. The navigation is MM, Workbenches, Technician Workbench.
