E-AS: PSAPPSRV Processes on PeopleTools 8.54 Running on HP-UX IA Consume Large Amounts of Memory (Doc ID 1997338.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 06, 2019

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.54 to 8.54 [Release 8.4]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

The PSAPPSRV processes for PeopleTools 8.54 on HP-UX IA are consuming 2+ GB of memory where they did not in PeopleTools 8.53. This behavior is causing the processes to hit upper operating system memory limits and, in some cases, crash with error:

To replicate, in an HP-UX Itanium environment, try to open the page Main Menu > PeopleTools > Application Engine > Review Temp Table Usage.

This page should return a large result set. If you watch the performance of the PSAPPSRV process, it should begin to consume large amounts of memory (in some cases 4GB). This page, with enough temp tables, should crash the application servr domain as well.
