E-AE: PSAE TRIES TO CONNECT TO ADG INSTANCE or STANDBY DB EVEN IF AE IS NOT READ ONLY (Doc ID 2002005.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 26, 2015

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.53 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 8.53 version, Application Engine

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
When running an App Engine which is not readonly using PSAE command line in server side it tries to connect to ADG instance and fails.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
PSAE should connect to primary DB only as it is not readonly.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. add the dummy Standby DB Name parameter to PSPRCS.cfg and run the job using below command line

PS_SERVER_CFG=$PS_CFG_HOME/appserv/prcs/$FXG_DOMAIN/psprcs.cfg;export PS_SERVER_CFG
psae -CT ORACLE -CD CDASUPG -CO PS -CP PS -R PSAETEST -I 0 -AI AEMINITEST

2. The process will go into error status.

3. Following command lsof -c psae | grep TCP also shows that 2 connections are made if we specify a valid ADG standby database name.

BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------
The issue has the following business impact:
Whenever ADG instance is down or hanging it impacts the Primary instance and Application does not work normally. The use case of ADG instance is to remove the load from primary instance but in this case it is bringing primary instance down.
