Process NSLDS Files - FAPTLART - ORA-12899 Error when Name is Greater Than 17 Characters (Doc ID 2010241.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to run FAPTLART to load an NSLDS History File, the following error occurs.

 ORA-12899: value too large for column "SYSADM"."PS_SEARCH_CNTL_TBX"."SA_CHARACTER" (actual: 19, maximum: 17). Stored Statement CCPSRCHP_I_SRCHCL0.



The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Add Person with last name > 17 characters: Campus Community > Personal Information > Add/Update a Person > Biographical Details. 
  2. Aid Year activate the student: Financial Aid > Aid Year Activation > Manage Financial Aid Years > Student Aid Year Activation. 
  3. Load history or transfer file with student's name into staging table: Financial Aid > File Management > Import Federal Data Files > FA Inbound.
  4. Set up Search/Match for NSLDS based on Name: Financial Aid > File Management > Import Federal Data Files > FA Inbound. 
  5. Navigate to Financial Aid > File Management > NSLDS > Process NSLDS Files > Process NSLDS Files and run the process.
  6. In Process Monitor, note when the instance ends in 'Error' status and review log file for details.
