Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

SCC_COMMGEN Memory Consumption Issue

When generating large batches of letters/other communications to existing and prospective students, the process consumes large amounts of memory.  At times resource exhaustion can occur causing the COMMGEN process to fail.  The Java Heap has been maximized but still have this problem. Currently have to run very small batches to avoid the process scheduler to fail.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Expect to be able to produce large volumes of communications without performance issues.

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Run commgen for large batch of communications.

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot run large batches of communications without breaking them into smaller batches.
