E-AD: PeopleTools Client Install fails when there are Spaces in the Install Directory Name (Doc ID 2038014.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 23, 2019

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.53 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Issue regarding the client installer in PS_HOME/setup/Client/Disk1.

When running number 3 from the below instruction in the resp_file_client.txt under the setup/Client/Disk1 folder of PeopleTools home, receive an error.  Specifically, there is a pop-up from the MSIEXEC command just displaying the available options.  And the MSIEXEC command to install the Visual Studio 2010 Assemblies does not actually run.

# Response file for Client Installation

# Notes:
# 1. Use "/" forward slash in the path (unix style), (for ex, D:/PT8.53-803-R1-client)
# 2. Replace _DESTDIR_ below with the destination directory path.
# 3. Invoke silent install as "<cddir>\disk1\setup.bat -i silent -DRES_FILE_PATH=<path_to_response_file>".

In this case, customer was using spaces in the installation directory name. Specifically, in In PS_HOME/setup/Client/Disk1/resp_file_client.txt:

USER_INSTALL_DIR=C:/Program Files (x86)/PeopleSoft HCM 8.53.19
