In Tax Update 15-C we delivered a program modification to correctly calculate the amounts when non-productive time is processed for an employee in the following situation:
1. The employee is salaried; and
2. The employee’s pay consists solely of pay for nonproductive time (vacation, sick leave, jury duty, etc.) and the nonproductive time reduces regular time to zero; and
3. The Hours Only (Reduce from Regular Pay) checkbox is selected on the Earnings Table entry for all earnings types that represent pay for nonproductive time.
This change was needed because the hourly rates and earnings dollar amounts associated with the nonproductive earnings types were incorrect. The rates were not recomputed based on the amount paid divided by the number of hours entered. As a result, the dollar amounts for each nonproductive earnings type may not have cross-footed to the total dollar amount paid. However, the employee’s total salary amount was correctly paid, since salaried employees are paid by the pay period amount, and not by hourly rate.
