EGL: How Suspense Adjustment Row Set/Calcuates Rate Type and Exchange Rate? (Doc ID 2053768.1)

Last updated on APRIL 16, 2021

PeopleSoft Enterprise FIN General Ledger - Version 9.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

For some regular and suspense Journal Entries Rate Type (RT_TYPE) field in JRNL_LN table is not getting populated.

However, Exchange Rate (RATE_MULT) field for this blank Rate Type fields get populated with different exchange rate.

This would cause Monetary Amount field to go out of balance by a penny or so.   When the Rate Type field is blank how the system populates RATE_MULT field with the slightly different exchange rate?

The journals are loaded through Journal Generator from external flat file.

For example, created journal with Balance Suspense option turned on.  Customer has SPOT rate type defined on the Ledger
Group and entering journal in a different currency. However, when suspense
row is created, it seems to blank out the rate type regardless of the setting
and then does a calculation of ration between foreign amount and base
amount(base_amount/foreign amount).
