E-IB: HTTPS Connection to Third-Party System Fails if Certificate CN= Value has Only Domain, and Neither Hostname nor Wildcard (Doc ID 2060022.1)

Integration Broker connects to a third party over HTTPS, and this worked while the target server certificate's Common Name used wildcard, like CN=*

However after the target's certificate renewal to one that has just a domain name, like "", the connection fails every time showing the below error: HTTPS hostname wrong:  should be <>, but cert says <, ...

What is causing this failure and how to fix it?
