E-SES: SES not Indexing any Data Crawler Log Shows EQP-80305 (Doc ID 2062570.1)

Symptoms

 Install instance of SES for Demo, configured and all is well.  Installed new instance for DEV environment, configured, but crawlers are not indexing anything.   I see some SSL issues in the log files, but we are not using SSL, so I am not sure if this is a problem. in the search crawler log, we see the following error:
