EMM: Work Order Error - Warning -- WO Duration specified is less than Calculated Duration from Tasks. (18206,228) (Doc ID 2076613.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 07, 2019

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise FIN Maintenance Management - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

1) When a Work Order is entered in Maintenance Management, the default Header Duration is 1 hour. When adding Tasks to the Work Order, each Task is given a 1 hour Duration. If the Task Durations are greater than the Header Duration then you get the following Warning Message:
Warning -- WO Duration specified is less than Calculated Duration from Tasks. (18206,228)
The WO Duration hours specified for this Work Order are less than the total Duration hours calculated from the Tasks. This condition is allowed, but could trigger subsequent validation errors when/if resources are assigned and scheduled for the Work Order.
This message is confusing because it indicates that accurate Durations for concurrent Work Order Tasks cannot be entered without receiving an error message. If the Header Duration is manually updated to match the sum of the Task Durations the Header Work Order Duration is not accurate.
Also, PeopleBooks identifies the WO Header Duration field as informational only.

2) When a Work Order is created with two Tasks and a different Task Template is selected for each Task, the Task Duration is populated correctly from the first Task Template for the first WO Task.
However, when the second WO Task is added, and a different Task Template is selected, the WO Task Duration is 1 hour, regardless of the actual duration on the Task Template. The Task Duration must be manually corrected.
