Symptoms

When attempting to Preview Approval Process, the following error occurs.

PSAPPSRV.6180 (4584) 1-158307 13.43.35 0.000000 SQL error. Function: CreateSQL Error Position: 0 Return: 8603 - [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]Executing SQL directly; no cursor.
[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'AND'.

[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]Statement(s) cou Statement: SELECT 'X' FROM PS_ROLEUSER_VW A WHERE AND ( ( A.ROLENAME = 'ADS DESIGNER') OR ( A.ROLENAME = 'APP DEVELOPER'))
Original Statement: SELECT 'X' FROM %Table(ROLEUSER_VW) A WHERE AND ( ( A.ROLENAME = 'ADS Designer') OR ( A.ROLENAME = 'App Developer'))



STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Navigate to  Main Menu > Enterprise Components >  Approvals > Approvals > Approval Process Setup
2. Search for and Clone GLJournalApproval Process to create a new Definition
3. Define Criteria, Stages, Paths and Steps
a) On Criteria Definition use Field Criteria Record ROLEUSER_VW
4. Save and Click on Preview Approval Process link from the Setup Process Definition page
5. Search for existing journals for User VP1
6. Click on one of the search results
