E-IB: Troubleshooting "Integration Gateway - External System Contact Error (158,10721)" and/or "IOException: The host couldn't be resolved" in Multiple Scenarios (Doc ID 2078433.1)

There is a generic error message that can appear in multiple Integration Broker usage scenarios, sometimes with extra errors, because of many conditions:

Integration Gateway - External System Contact Error (158,10721)

Often the above message is accompanied by the below explanatory text:

Integration Gateway was not able to contact the external system. The network location specified may be incorrect, or the site is permanently or temporarily down.

And/Or the below error can be reported either in addition or instead of the above (typically the below text appears as error message parameter in the gateway log):

IOException: The host couldn't be resolved.
