E-IB: Web Service Call to URL Like Http://host:port/path/name.wsdl Returns WSDL Definition while User Expects Web Service Response (Doc ID 2083519.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 23, 2019

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.50 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

On PeopleTools 8.5x, Integration Broker, the Consume Web Service wizard was used to import WSDL at URL like http://host:port/webservicepath/webservicename.wsdl
The WSDL import was successfull, the necessary metadata (the service, its service operation(s), the message(s) and related objects) were auto-generated by the wizard.
The external node to use is set up with Connector ID: HTTPTARGET and its property PRIMARYURL to the same URL http://host:port/webservicepath/webservicename.wsdl
Then when Service Operation Tester utility is used to call the web service via that node, the response is the WSDL definition instead of the expected response message.

Why the response is WSDL definition instead of the web service operation response, while SoapUI after importing the same WSDL calls that same service successfully?
