HR 9.2 Route Applicant Emails Intermittently Failing Because Destination Path Improperly Valued (Doc ID 2101211.1)

Last updated on JULY 12, 2019

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise HCM Talent Acquisition Manager - Version 9.2 and later
PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.53 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

On : 8.53 version, File Attachment, HCM 9.2 Recruiting Route Applicant Email

The setDirectory method in HRS.ARM.CMP_HRS_APP_RTE.BUS.RouteApplicant.OnExecute app package PeopleCode creates a destination path value (variable name &destination) that always uses the environmental variable PS_SERVDIR value, even though the code starts by using the value of the env variable PS_FILEDIR. The directory created by this PeopleCode can only be accessed when whatever else references this folder is ALSO running on the same exact physical server. Because we are in an application server load balanced environment, emails are intermittently failing because the directories being created are not always seen.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. In an environment load balanced with multiple Application Servers.
2. With SMTPGuaranteed configured, to send all email out through IB EMAIL_MSG.
3. Generate workflow to Route Applicant Email.
4. Note that unless user generating Application email with attachment is on same server used for IB Email Processing, the error occurs.
