E-PIA: Incorrect Saving Message and Spinning Wheel on Modal Lookups when Alt+1 Hotkey is Pressed (Doc ID 2106393.1)

Last updated on JULY 21, 2020

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.54 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

On FSCM9.2 environments with PeopleTools 8.54.xx and 8.55.xx, when the user clicks on any lookup prompt, the lookup search page appears that has a button named "Look Up" with the keyboard shortcut Alt+1. When pressing the Alt+1 keyboard shortcut, the spinning wheel incorrectly appears with the wording "Saving...", which is confusing to users. No actual save processing is triggered on the main page, but this is confusing to users. While clicking on the "Look Up" button, the spinning wheel appears on the right corner of the lookup modal and this is the correct behavior.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Login to PIA using any of IE11, Firefox 44+ or Chrome 48+
2. Go to any page with lookup prompts (e.g.: Main Menu > General Ledger > Journals > Journal Entry > Create/Update Journal Entries) and press on a lookup (e.g.: Source)
3. Press Alt+1 shortcut for Look Up button
4. Notice how the spinning wheel appears with the wording "Saving", but there is no actual save performed.

Business Impact
This has no impact on the background logic since no actual save is performed on the page, therefore no loss of functionality is actually taking place. However, the "Saving..." message that briefly appears on the lookup page is confusing to the users.
