Symptoms

In PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management (HCM) 9.1 production database, new benefit plans were introduced and old ones retired as of 1/1/2016. Employees that had events during December were "enrolled" in the old plans as of 1/1/2016, effectively wiping out the elections of the new plans. When attempting to run the first payroll of the new year, the following error occurs:

ERROR
-----------------------
Message ID: 000089
Description: The Benefit Plan / Deduction Code is not found for the Benefit Program defined for this employee.

After this error is received setting Benefits Deductions Taken to None on the paysheet does not clear the error in the next calculation although at that point no deductions should be calculating.

STEPS
-----------------------
1. Calculate the payroll (Navigation: Payroll for North America > Payroll Processing USA > Produce Payroll > Calculate Payroll).

2. Change the setting for Benefits Deductions Taken to None on the employee’s paysheet (Navigation: Payroll for North America > Payroll Processing USA > Update Paysheets > By Payline).
