Requirement of Setting Spouse as a Beneficiary for a Pension Plan Is Only Triggered if the Spouse is Dependent Beneficiary 01 (Doc ID 2147771.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to enroll or change an employee’s enrollment in a pension plan, the enrollment can be saved without error if the employee has no spouse or has a spouse with a Dependent Beneficiary ID other than 01; however, the following error message is generated if Dependent Beneficiary 01 has a relationship of spouse:

Spouse must be elected as dependent for current coverage code. Plan Type = 82. (3000,315)

You have chosen a coverage code for which spouse coverage is mandatory. Please add another elected dependent row for the spouse or update the coverage code (option code) to a value for which spouse coverage is not mandatory.

STEPS
-----------------------
1. Enter a new enrollment for an employee who has a spouse as dependent 01 (Navigation: Benefits > Enroll in Benefits > CAN-Pension Plans).
2. Click the Save button.
