E-SEC: PT 8.55 Version on PSOPRDEFN is updating with every login due to Update Protocol Manager (UPM) on PSLOCK and PSVERSION tables (Doc ID 2175273.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 03, 2019

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.55 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Since upgrading to PeopleTools 8.55 , we have noticed that every time a user logs into the system, it is causing their version number in PSOPRDEFN to update (sometimes by multiple increments) and as a result, constant updates to their object cache which is causing severe performance issues which we did not experience prior to upgrading. There were also reported instances where all user profiles were being updated. For example, when copying a Role.

We would like some advice on the likely cause of these unnecessary version number increments and associated cache updates as they are currently rendering our upgraded system unable to deal with even moderate load testing.
