When User With Large Number of Direct Reports Selects a Transaction Using Guided Self Service, the Browser Hangs Before any Employees are Displayed. (Doc ID 2189500.1)

Symptoms

When a user who has been given access to a large number of employee records (potentially 4000) attempts to access Online Approvals using Fluid, the browser hangs with a white screen.

The problem does not occur when the logged-in user has access to 40 employees. When the user has access to around 2000 employees, the page is slow to open, but it may eventually open (same behavior as in DEMO).

 

REPLICATION STEPS:
-----------------------

1. In a 9.2 database, configure Direct Reports Access for "By Dept Security Tree."
2. Log in as user who has access based on the Dept Security Tree to at least 2000 employees, and select a transaction.
3. Select any option that uses Guided Self Service (e.g., Promote Employee, Change Pay Rate, Change Supervisor, etc.)
Browser displays a white page, and either issues an error message after several seconds or just hangs indefinitely.

 

Note:  This problem happens only in databases where Direct Reports Access is configured for Department Security Tree.  For other access types the issue does not occur.
