E-SES: Unable to ping SES if Local Gateway is not Labeled "LOCAL" (Doc ID 2193088.1)

Symptoms

We have a local gateway called "MY_LOCALGATEWAY". We did not use the default label which is called "LOCAL". We are not able to ping our SES server whatsoever. We receive the following error on the Search Instance page:
