When submitting a USI, a check digit validation is performed on the entered number to ensure it fits the required format, however customer have found several values which have been entered in system which pass this validation, but which are invalid and cause the bulk verification process to abend.
All of these values should fail validation as they contain characters which are not in the "Allowed Characters" list (i.e. 0, O, 1 and I). However they all seem to pass the check digit validation so they make it into the USI request table. Once in the request table, the App Engine attempts to verify them with USI, however the values cause an XSD validation error in java, returning the following:

- Main Menu > Self Service > Campus Personal Information > Unique Student Identifier
- Enter Your USI Value
