E-ORA: HAVING LONG CHARACTER LENGTH OF 2000, PIA RESTRICTED TO 1333 CHARACTERS (Doc ID 2204657.1)

Symptoms

On : 8.54.25 version, Database-Oracle, Development environment

facing an issue in-terms of restricting field length in the application.

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
When we have the long Character length of 2000, we are getting an error message in the application to restrict the field length to 1333 instead of 2000.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Expect there not to be a error message

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Upgrading NON-Unicode PeopleSoft Environment from PT8.51/CR8.8 -->PT8.51/CR9.1
2. PT8.51/CR9.1 -->PT8.54/CR9.2
3. Once Upgrade is completed Upgrading the Database 11g to 12C.
4. Then Converting the NON-Unicode Database to Unicode Database using DMU.
5. Then run an Alter Audit to convert data type to CLOB (for varchar2 > 1333 and <3999)

BUSINESS IMPACT

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, it is restricting with the exactly given field length value. say if we have the long character length as 2001, the restriction will get into effect only if we exceeds input values more than 2001 character.
