E-FTP: How to find what the MIME Type is when adding support for a new file type/extension? (Doc ID 2222887.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 12, 2017

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

PeopleSoft allows administrators to add MIME type (Media Type) associations to the web server, so that support for new file types/extensions could be added. The process is described in PeopleBooks under:

PeopleBooks: PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.xx > PeopleCode Developer’s Guide > Application Deployment and System Configuration Considerations > Configuring the web server to support additional MIME types

If the MIME type of a file type/extension is not added to the web server, users who download a file from the PeopleSoft application with that file type/extension may see the file as garbled text or characters, or the file downloaded could get corrupted.

But where does one find out what the MIME type is when adding support for a new file type/extension?
