E-AS: PSAPPSRV Process Crashes After Applying PeopleTools Patch 8.55.14 - PSAFFIRM(FALSE) failed at /vob/peopletools/src/psmgr/mgrstrm.cpp, line 358. Processing will abort. (Doc ID 2256752.1)

Last updated on JUNE 08, 2019

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.55 and later
Generic Linux
This problem applies to Linux x86-64 only, after applying PeopleTools 8.55.14 patch.

When attempting a GSS transaction, or navigating to related content and selecting an action, the user may get kicked out of the application, to a PeopleTools session timeout screen or a signon prompt.

Example navigation in HRMS is:

"My Team" -> right-click on an employee -> choose "Job and Personal Information"-> "Request Location Change".

After entering new information and clicking "Submit", the application will either fail or time out.

Examination of application server logs will show that the PSAPPSRV process has crashed with a PSAFFIRM(false) failure.  The associated error message will be similar to ""PSAFFIRM(FALSE) failed at /vob/peopletools/src/psmgr/mgrstrm.cpp, line 358. Processing will abort."

If gdb is installed, a backtrace of the failing PSAPPSRV process will show an exception at CServicebase::DoUOWSave().

This problem was introduced in Linux x86-64 with the PeopleTools 8.55.14 patch.  The associated crash does not occur on Windows.
