E-IB: javax.mail.MessagingException when trying to fetch email from a SSL enabled mailbox (Doc ID 2265226.1)

Symptoms

The below error comes in the PIA:


Integration Gateway: General Connection Failed

This error is thrown when there is no valid response.
Possible errors include:

Bad gateway URL
Sync Service Timeout set and Service actually timed out.
Java exception thrown - Check Application Server for possible Java exception.

The below error entry is found in the errorlog.html:

GetMailTargetConnector (Host=xxx.xxx.com ; User=test): Cannot connect to mail server

javax.mail.MessagingException: ;
nested exception is:
java.io.IOException



STEPS
-----------------------
While trying to connect to a mail server which has SSL enabled.

1.Configure the necessary values in the Node which connects to the mailbox.

2.Navigate to the PeopleTools >> MultiChannel Framework >>Email >>Sample Pages

3.Fill in the necessary details like Username,Password,IB Nodename,Server

4.In the Read Headers section select the MessageCount drop down.

5.Click on the Fetch button
