E-QR: Performance Issues With Date Fields in Query Excel Output With PeopleTools 8.55 (Doc ID 2269922.1)

Last updated on JULY 27, 2022

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.55 to 8.55 [Release 8.4]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After upgrading to PeopleTools release between 8.55.12 - 8.55.15, performance issues are seen when downloading Excel output for queries from Query Manager.  This is also reported to occur in some cases for scheduled queries as well.

These performance issues are specific to queries with date fields, taking much longer time to run.  When downloading from Query Manager it may eventually timeout and kick the user out of PIA.  In such cases the following error appears multiple times in the app server log as a result of the issue:

PSAPPSRV.5272 (9791) [2017-12-12T12:20:11.755 PS@xxxxxxxxx (IE 11.0; WIN) ICScript] wsrWqtVwF1sOQQ - PS (3) File: E:\pt85514b-retail\peopletools\src\pssys\qdmutil.cppSQL error. Stmt #: 6062 Error Position: 0 Return: 8603 - [IBM][CLI Driver] CLI0109E String data right truncation. SQLSTATE=22001 (SQLSTATE 22001) -99999
Failed SQL stmt: SELECT TIMEZONE FROM PSTIMEZONEMAP WHERE IANA_TIMEZONE = :1 OR TIMEZONE = :1
PSAPPSRV.5272 (9791) [2017-12-12T12:20:11.755 PS@xxxxxxxxx (IE 11.0; WIN) ICScript] wsrWqtVwF1sOQQ - PS (1) IANATimeZoneToPSTimeZone: SamExecFetch Failed.

In removing the date fields from the queries and running again, the performance issue is not present and query results are ready in the expected amount of time.
