Display Order Fields Not Determining The Order Which FAQ Group are Displaying (Doc ID 2286325.1)

Symptoms

ISSUE:

Display Order Fields Not Determining The Order Which FAQ Group are Displaying. When creating content that is visible to the suppliers via the supplier portal, one of the options available is to establish FAQ Groups, and additionally define the display order in which the FAQ Groups are shown to suppliers.

However, in testing this functionality, it is obvious that the Display Order fields do NOT, in fact, determine the order in which the FAQ Groups are displayed within the supplier portal. The values populated within the Display Order field do nothing.

Rather, the Description field determines the order win which FAQ Groups are displayed; an ascending alphanumeric order based upon Description is being enforced.

For example, if the Description for one FAQ Group has a lower alpha sequence than another FAQ Group, the FAQ Group and its associated questions are displayed first within the supplier portal, and anything populated within the Display order fields has no impact whatsoever.


Steps to replicate the issue:

1. Login as VP1 and navigate to Main Menu > Suppliers > Supplier Portal Configuration > Content Management > FAQ Groups
Keep in mind a couple of things. A) each FAQ group is currently being displayed in ascending alphabetical order based upon description
B) Display order entered for the FAQ Groups is varied

2. Now navigate to Main Menu > Suppliers > Supplier Portal Configuration > Content Management > Maintain Content
Confirm you have a couple of questions associated with each FAQ Group, and that the questions are published

3. Now navigate to Main Menu > Suppliers > Supplier Portal Configuration > Content Management > FAQ Display Options

4. They are displayed based upon the ascending alphanumeric order based upon Description, Display Order values are being ignored. That’s wrong.

5. Navigate back to Main Menu > Suppliers > Supplier Portal Configuration > Content Management > FAQ Groups

Let’s validate our hypothesis by adding a new FAQ Group. Add a new row at the bottom of the page.

Let’s have the value entered in the FAQ Group field be the highest from an alpha perspective (just to confirm that field doesn’t do anything).

Enter the lowest alpha value for Description fo the new FAQ Group row

Enter the highest value for the Display order and click Save

6. navigate to Main Menu > Suppliers > Supplier Portal Configuration > Content Management > Maintain Content

Create a couple of questions associated for the new FAQ Group, and publish them.

7. Navigate to Main Menu > Suppliers > Supplier Portal Configuration > Content Management > FAQ Display Options

This page shows the order in which FAQ Groups and their questions are displayed

Compare this to slide #6.


See? They are displayed based upon the ascending alphanumeric order based upon Description, Display Order values are being ignored.
