Text tray iisue when one uses the alt+G for substitution after upgrading tools to 8.54

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. On the notes page for a text tray item that include a “<” if one uses the alt+G for substitution then we lose the word contained between the “<” and “>”. But if one opens the text tray and clicks on the item, then the full text is added. NOTE: this used to be worse, ie it used to just not print anything after the first “<”, so appears a partial fix was made by oracle, but this is still not working properly.

From Notes page using the substitution method (ie alt+G):
Using the substitution method the formatting is lost when the first “<” is encountered. And the text “ , is lost completely.
