Second Pell (Pell2) Reduced to Zero With Validation Edit 9104 (Doc ID 2338255.1)

When attempting to award/package the Second Pell (Pell2) item type to students, by any method, the item types are failing validation with edit 9104 - 'after initial assignment the award value has been reduced below the minimum required award limit and the award cannot be made.'

The issue will likely affect only a small number of students or certain groups, and not all students.

Reminder: whether an item type is Pell1 or Pell2 is defined by the 'Additional Pell' box on the Set Up SACR > Product Related > Financial Aid > Awards > Financial Aid Item Types > FA Item Type 1 setup page.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Financial Aid > Awards > Award Processing > Assign Awards to a Student > Student Aid Package.
  2. Choose student already awarded Pell1 over the maximum number of terms eligible; or award a full Pell1 to the student.
  3. Award Pell2 in separate item type and sequenced after Pell1.
  4. Click Validate button and note the item type is reduced to 0; click 'message' link and note the 9104 edit.
