E-PORTAL: How Do We Close The Fluid Navigator Menu When The Link Opens In A New Browser Tab/window? (Doc ID 2342168.1)

Last updated on APRIL 04, 2025

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PRTL Interaction Hub - Version 9.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 9.1 version, Usability

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
We have some links in a navigation collection used by the Fluid Navigator Menu that opens in a new browser tab/window (via the CREF attribute & value NAVNEWWIN & TRUE). Some of these links are SSO to other PeopleSoft systems, and we have figured out a way to extend the timeout in the Hub when users are active in these other systems, but the code that does this does not get inherited by the iFrame used by the Fluid Navigator Menu.

We need the Fluid Navigator Menu to close whenever a link is selected - this happens already when the link opens in the current window (via the javascript:PTNavBar.OpenInWindow() method, because the page has to open a new URL), but it does not happen when the link opens in a new tab/window (via the javascript:LaunchURL() method).

Until this gets fixed, how can we safely modify the LaunchURL() method to accomplish this?

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------

Possible customization if not able to configure the no Nav bar action for second tab window.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Login to Portal HUB
2. Access a link from Portal HUB that SSO into the content provider
3. The new tab has the Nav bar available and customer needs the Nav bar to be close when the new tab opens

BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------
The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot navigate as intended business requirements.
