Last updated on JULY 18, 2018

Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 8.56 version, Component Processing

Verified on PT 8.56.09

Add button for a new Component is irresponsive. Nothing happens when user clicks on it.

Unable to Add New Values if the Component Search Record has Fields with Search Edit Selected.
The Component Processor is preventing the Add action if any of the Search Criteria fields, that are not validated against Prompt Table Edits, have Record Field property 'Search Edit' selected in the Record Definition.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1- In Application Designer, create a new component, or open any existing Component, that has search criteria fields that are validated against:

- Translate table (Edit Type - Table Edit - Translate Table Edit), or
- Yes/No field (Edit Type - Table Edit - Yes/No Table Edit), or
- Has no validation at all (Edit Type-No Edit).

Note: The issue does not happen if the Field has Prompt Table Edit (Edit Type - Table Edit - Prompt Table Edit)

2- In the Search Record Definition, select the 'Search Edit' checkbox for any of those search criteria fields. Click Ok. Save.

3- In PIA, navigate to the Component and click on the Add a New Value tab. Fill in the fields and click on the Add button.

Nothing happens. The user is not taken to the target page.

Example on a delivered page:

On an HCM environment, Component.TL_TA_RULE_TMPLT has Record.TL_TMPLT_RULE as the Search Record (no specific Add Search Record).
Open the Record Definition TL_TMPLT_RULE and note that field TL_TMPLT_RULE.TEMPLATE_TYPE is validated against a Table Edit-Translate Table Edit.
Select the Search Edit check box, in the Use tab of the Record Field Properties. Click OK and save.

In PIA, navigate to Set Up HCM > Product Related > Time and Labor > Rules and Workgroups > Template-Built Rules and try to Add a New Value.
By clicking the Add button, nothing happens, the target page does not open.

Undo the changes and test again. Add a New Value works as expected.

Same issue happens if Search Edit is set for a field with Yes/No validation or no validation at all.
For example, Open the Record Definition TL_TMPLT_RULE and note that field TL_TMPLT_RULE.TL_RULE_ID has no validation (Edit Type-No Edit).
