E-MCF: Javax.mail.MessagingException: STARTTLS Required But Not Supported By Server (Doc ID 2473004.1)

Symptoms

Sample Environment:

Tools 8.54.35
CRM 9.0
PROD
Java version is jdk1.7.0_191_64bit
Linux 4.1.12-124.16.4.el7uek.x86_64

Issue:
-------
3rd party exchange mail server disabled the TLS 1.0 protocol and switched to TLS 1.2.  RB_MAIL_READ stopped working when this change was made.    

To provide TLS 1.2 in tools 8.54.35 , a POC Patch was provided per Doc ID 2415182.1   
 

The following error was received after applying POC.

ErrorLevel Standard Gateway Exception
Description GetMailTargetConnector (Host=xx.yy.edu; User=xyz): Cannot connect to mail server

javax.mail.MessagingException: STARTTLS required but not supported by server;
 nested exception is:
       com.sun.mail.iap.ProtocolException: STARTTLS required but not supported by server
       at com.sun.mail.imap.IMAPStore.protocolConnect(IMAPStore.java:663)
       at javax.mail.Service.connect(Service.java:295)
       at com.peoplesoft.pt.integrationgateway.targetconnector.pop3.MCFMailBox.open(MCFMailBox.java:385)


Impact:
------------
RB_MAIL_READ process is not running due to this error.  The emails from the 3rd party mailbox cannot be imported into PSFT application and the ERMS functionality is affected.  There are hundreds of users who use the ERMS functionality.
