E-508: Combo Boxes are not Read Intuitively by JAWS When Using Accessibility Mode (Doc ID 2519303.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 12, 2021

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.56 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

PT 8.56

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
Combo boxes throughout the application are not being read correctly by JAWS. It tells you that there is a combo box, but it doesn't tell you what is chosen on the list, and it doesn't read to you when you change the value. It also doesn't tell you how many are on the list.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
JAWS should tell us how many items are in the list and what value is being chosen

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Login to PeopleSoft with Accessibility mode turned on
2. Navigate to General Ledger > Journals > Journal Entry > Create/Update Journal Entries
3. Add a new value
4. Tab until Adjusting Entry Combo box
*JAWS reads the label and the Value but does not have the number of items inside the combo box counted, nor does it announce what position the selected item is in the list
JAWS reads it as “Adjusting Entry Combo box. Non dash adjusting entry. To change the selection use the arrow keys”

This issue is not specific for one page, but this is one example of where the issue occurs.
