Issue:

The site is not able to make connection to retrieve email count from the Multichannel Framework Email Sample Page.
Navigation: PeopleTools > MultiChannel Framework > Email > Sample Pages -> Running the GetMail test MessageCount, by hitting Fetch button.
The error in the IB gateway errorlog file is :

What works:

From the web server, the site rep was able to do openssl s_client -crlf -connect mail.xxx.com:995 and get connected to the pop3 mail server.
