Last updated on JULY 22, 2020

Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

PIA_access.log fills up the hard drive space creating creating 525 MB log file every hour to 2 hours. This happens every time the user uses Chrome and tries to force expiration of the session. The PIA_access.log file shows the following message:

/psp/site/EMPLOYEE/EMPL/h/?cmd=login&languageCd=ENG "PS_TokenSite=https://example.com/psp/site/?A-80-PORTAL-PSJSESSIONID; SignOnDefault=; https://example.com/psp/site/employee/empl/refresh=list: ?tab=papp_guest|?rp=papp_guest|?tab=help_uc|?rp=help_uc|?tab=remoteunifieddashboard|?rp=remoteunifieddashboard|; HPTabName=; HPTabNameRemote=; psping=NODE STATUS:DONE; A-PORTAL-PSJSESSIONID=xxxxxxxxx"

This happens several times per second, always the same post line from the IP having this problem.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Make a change to the expire.html file found at: <PS_HOME>\webserv\DOMAIN_NAME\applications\peoplesoft\PORTAL\WEBINF\psftdocs\SITE_NAME
2. Log into the PeopleSoft application using Chrome browser
3. Force Login expiration by pasting the following URL into the browser session: https://example.com/psp/site/EMPLOYEE/EMPL/h/?cmd=expire
4. Note multiple PIA_access.log entries (as shown above) and rapid file growth over time.
