INAS NCP Divide By Zero Error (Doc ID 2522386.1)

Last updated on MARCH 07, 2024

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Financial Aid - Version 9 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : CS 9 Bundle 47 and later and CS 9.2 PUM 7 and later

When attempting to run INAS NCP in batch,
the following error occurs.

ERROR
-----------------------
Object Code error : file '/usr/local/app/psoft/csqa92/cblbin/FMCALC18.gnt'
error code: 48, pc=0, call=1, seg=0
48 Attempt to divide by zero (in FMCALC18.cbl, line 2053)

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Enter Batch INAS run control with aid year 2019, app type P, NCP Y and Clear N
2. Run process

WHAT IS WORKING
------------------------------
The process does not error with all students, just a few. It appears related to students that have a row in INST_PARENT_N without any actual NCP data (for example, dependency overrides or otherwise independent students), but even with this group it may be only a subset that causes the problem

Changes

The problem was first reported after Bundle 47 and PUM 07, but further related code changes were delivered in Bundle 52 and PUM 12, and it is not clear if these changes are now causing the problem to occur (slightly) more frequently.
