E-SEC: PT 8.56x USER_PROFILE MESSAGES OPERPSWD FIELD IS UPDATED UNNECESSARILY (Doc ID 2536482.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 11, 2019

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.56 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

PT 8.56.x

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
USER_PROFILE messages OPERPSWD field through subscription PeopleCode (PT8.56.x)

When a user password is changed in an environment the OPERPSWD value does not update (I.E. Portal). When the USER_PROFILE message publishes to another environment (I.E.HRMS) and the message is processed in this environment it does update the OPERPSWD value, even though it doesn't seem to be necessary as the OPERPSWD field is no longer valid as of PT 8.55.

So why does the source system not update the OPERPSWD field but the USER_PROFILE subscription process does?

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
There is no need to update the OPERPSWD field in current PT 8.56 release

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Setup User_Profile Message between 2 environments
2. In one environment change the user's password
3. View the SQL of the PSOPRDEFN table in the other environment and see that the OPERPSWD is updated.

BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------
The issue has the following business impact:
This is not really an issue but looks to be a code flaw. The update causes no errors or issues it just seems unnecessary.
