Error: "Update Incumbents Failed" When Approving Position From Approval Tile (Doc ID 2565469.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to final approve a new Position transaction in the 9.2 PUM30 Demo environment using the new Fluid Position Management functionality, the following error message is generated indicating a CI Exceptions failure associated with updating Incumbents.




The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Login to the 9.2 Demo environment using delivered HFG user ID and the users homepage appears.
2. Selecting the Position Management tile opens the Position Management dashboard.
3. Selecting the Manage Position tile opens the Manage/Create Position fluid functionality.
4. Selecting the “Add” button opens the “Create Position” page.
5. Selecting the “Continue” button opens the “Create Position” page where the user enters all the required fields as needed and 1 C- Security Specialty value.
6. Selecting the Next button opens the to the Additional Information page.
7. Selecting the Next Button opens the Attachments page.
8. Selecting the Next button opens the to the Budget Incumbents page.
9. Selecting the Next button opens the to the Review and Submit page.Selecting the Submit button starts the AWE approval process.
10. Next login as delivered 9.2 demo approval user <USER>.
11. Select the Approvals tile
12. Select the Create Position – Accountant record
13. Select the Approve button.
14. Enter comments and submit for final approval
15. Generates the following error message.
"Update Incumbents Failed. You can review the exceptions generated using the CI Exceptions link under View Details link for the Position."
16. Finally reviewing CI Exceptions Link available under the View Details link for the Position shows no errors. This is demonstrated in the following steps. First return to home page and select the Position Management tile.
17. Select the Manage Position tile
18. Entering the position number value and selecting the Search button loads the position results.
19. Selecting the Position Details button
20. Opens the Position Details page the does and exposes the CI Exceptions link for reviewing the previously generated error.
Result: Selecting the link generates a false message stating no errors were generated.
