Symptoms

On : 8.56 version, Component Processing.

Clicking On Cancel Button In Lookup Prompt Page Kicks A Person Out Of The System. It Crashed Application Server On ShouldFormatText@CRTFieldOccurs (ABEND:LINUX:CRTFIELDOCCURS::SHOULDFORMATTEXT)

If a field has a Prompt Table Edit and is defined in the page as a Control Field; and the Related field is based on the same Prompt Table Edit Record, clicking on the the Cancel button in the lookup search page will cause an error and kick the user out of the system.

The Application Server crashes, and the dump file proces_state.txt points to:

ShouldFormatText@CRTFieldOccurs (Windows)

- ABEND:LINUX:CRTFIELDOCCURS::SHOULDFORMATTEXT (Linux)



The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create a page with Id field (control field) and a related field (e.g.: Description)
2. Set the ID fields with a Prompt Table Edit that matches the Record of the Related Field.

    E.g.:

    ID field (Control Field) has Prompt Table Edit REC_EXAMPLE_VW.

    Related Control Field is REC_EXAMPLE_VW.DESCR


3. Navigate to the page in the PIA and click on the lookup (magnifying glass icon). Then click cancel. User is logged out of peoplesoft and an error occurs.
4. Error as :

An error has occurred.
Please make sure webserver and appserver are up. null.
