Last updated on JANUARY 25, 2021

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise FIN Asset Management - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The Asset depreciation is incorrect when sequence of same steps performed changes, also Asset with AD convention under depreciates.

REPLICATION STEPS
-----------------------
1. Created asset with non-depreciable category, CORP book with AD and FEDERAL with MM convention.
Trans 07/06/18, acctg 10/01/18, cost 17,687,638.650. Run depr.
2. Re-categorized the asset to depreciable category.
Trans 12/01/18, acctg 12/10/18. Run depr.
3. Changed the life end date of the asset to 15th Oct, 2028 for both books.
Trans 12/01/18, acctg 12/10/18. Run depr.
4. Review asset depr info
5. Created another asset with non-depreciable category, CORP book with AD and FEDERAL with MM convention.
Trans 07/06/18, acctg 10/01/18, cost 17,687,638.650. Run depr.
6. Changed the life end date of the asset to 15th Oct, 2028 for both books.
Trans 12/01/18, acctg 12/10/18. Run depr.
7. Re-categorized the asset to depreciable category.
Trans 12/01/18, acctg 12/10/18. Run depr.

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
After step 4-
CORP:
monthly depreciation : 149690.64
last month depreciation : 24143.66 - Half month depr should be booked

FEDERAL:
First Month Depr : 149262.77
Last Month Depreciation : 74631.38
This looks correct

After step 7-
CORP(MM):
monthly depreciation : 149690.63 (first Month Depr)
last month depreciation : 24143.66 - Half month depr should be booked

FEDERAL:
First Month Depr : 74947.62 (half month)
Last Month Depreciation : 74947.62
Monthly Depreciation : 149895.24

In both the scenarios for CORP, it has not calculated the depreciation for
half month in the last period. It failed in both the cases
In two scenarios, it calculated the monthly depreciation differently -
149262.77 and 149895.24

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
Depreciation calculation should be correct irrespective of sequence of same steps taken.
In addition, the asset should depreciate correctly until end oflife date. It should not over depreciate or under depreciate.
