Symptoms

PeopleCode Error when Clicking Return Link on Absence Request Approval Page

There is an error when clicking the Return Link at the bottom of the Absence Request Approval Page. The absence approval page was accessed via the Pending Approval Pagelet.


ERROR:   First operand of . is NULL, so cannot access member returnToLast (180,236)
              DERIVED_CO.RETURN_TRANSFER.FieldChange PCPC:18811 Statement:267

The first operand of the dot operator is the NULL value, indicating the lack of any object value. As a consequence, the given method or property cannot be used.


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. select any absence request for approval from the Pending Approval Pagelet
  2. click the ‘Return’ link at the bottom of the page
