ELA: Importing Existing Lease Assets Displays New Asset ID On Lease (Doc ID 2596846.1)

Last updated on JULY 21, 2020

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise FIN Lease Administration - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
When importing Leases with existing Leased Assets into Lease Administration via Lease Imports, existing Leased Assets created via Basic Add cannot be selected on the Lease Other Details tab for Interface Transaction Type Asset Details. Nothing is returned when clicking on GO with "IS New" unchecked. When the existing Leased Asset is entered, the same error occurs for Financial and Operating Leased Assets: "The Asset X is not valid for Finance Leases."

This is occurring when the Leased Asset is created using a financial profile and when the Leased Asset is created using an operating profile. The scenario shown for operating leases is calibrated to meet the threshold for operating leases. When the lease is entered on the Lease Administration Create New Lease pages, the system classifies the lease as operating. When the lease is entered on the Review Lease Import component, the lease is classified as finance. There is no way to reclassify the lease in the Review Lease Import component and add an existing operating lease to the lease import interface request. It can't be saved.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
1) The expectation is that a financial Leased Asset can be added to the Review Lease Import component and interfaced into Lease Administration.

2) The expectation is that an operating Leased Asset can be added to the Review Lease Import component and interfaced into Lease Administration.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

Scenario 1:

1. Create a financial Leased Asset via Basic Add.
2. Navigate to Lease Administration > Integrations > Lease Imports > Review Lease Interface.
2. Enter the Lease and Lease Term Details.
3. Tab to Lease Other Details and enter Interface Transaction type = Asset Details.
4. Uncheck IS New and click on GO to select a financial Leased Asset. No Assets are found.
5. Enter the Leased Asset created in point 1 above into the Asset ID field and save the page.
6. Note error window:  "The Asset X is not valid for Finance Leases."
7. Tab back to Lease Details and note that the Lease was classified as finance.

Scenario 2:

1. Check Thresholds on Lease Asset Business Unit to ensure that the Lease will meet the criteria for an operating classification by the system.
2. Create an operating Leased Asset via Basic Add (use operating profile and category). Useful Life = 60. Cost = 6,000.00
3. Navigate to Lease Administration > Integrations > Lease Imports > Review Lease Interface.
4. Enter the Lease and Lease Term Details. Lease Term = 12. Lease Payments = 1,200.00
5. Tab to Lease Other Details and enter Interface Transaction type = Asset Details.
6. Uncheck IS New and click on GO to select an operating Leased Asset. No Assets are found.
7. Enter the Leased Asset created in point  2 above into the Asset ID field and save the page.
8. Note error window:  "The Asset X is not valid for Finance Leases."
9. Tab back to Lease Details and note that the Lease was classified as finance.
