E-INST: Error During Manual Database Creation for Microsoft SQL Server Environment: Required DB file is missing from data folder. Installer is exiting (Doc ID 2618717.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to create a new PeopleSoft Database on Microsoft SQL Server manually using a response file and the Database Wizard, the following error occurs in the Database Wizard.

 

Error Text:

"Required DB file is missing from data folder. Installer is exiting"

 

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Install the Middle Tier software, PS_HOME, and PS_APP_HOME using the desired PUM Image (psft-dpk-setup. --env_type midtier --deploy_only --deploy_type all)
  2. Configure the database wizard response file for Microsoft SQL Server setup with the PS_HOME location set for the PS_APP_HOME scalar parameter (or any file location other than the actual PS_APP_HOME location).
  3. Error occurs when running the manual database setup.
