E-508: 'ARIA-DISABLED=TRUE' Showing In Display Only Text
(Doc ID 2647742.1)
Last updated on AUGUST 02, 2022
Applies to:
PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.55 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
If a field is configured to be “Display Only”, then the text for that field is printed to the screen with a surrounding SPAN tag. Unfortunately, the attribute/value of ARIA-DISABLED=TRUE is also included in that SPAN tag around the text. This text is meant to be displayed to all end users, so it should not be marked as disabled. Some Assistive Technology products read ARIA code and may not reveal disabled information. This issue is systemic (everywhere the “Display Only” option is selected in the configuration).
Examples of impacted pages in 8.55:
Main Menu > Recruiting > Reports > Job Posting (the Run Control ID is marked as disabled text)
Main Menu > PeopleTools > Portal > Portal Definitions (the Current Portal is marked as disabled text)
Main Menu > PeopleTools > Security > User Profiles > User Profiles (the User ID is marked as disabled text)
ARIA-DISABLED=TRUE from the SPAN tag of visible text should not be appear in order to comply with WCAG.
