Symptoms

Campus Solutions 9.2 PUM 15

  1. Navigate to Self Service > Faculty Center > My Schedule
  2. Click on View My Weekly Teaching Schedule
  3. Observe that the schedule shown on the View My Weekly Schedule page is either based on the current date, or is instead the first week of the currently selected term. The result is inconsistent and depends on whether the instructor had a class scheduled in the first week of the term or not.

The View My Weekly Teaching Schedule button's logic for determining what date range to display when launching the View My Weekly Schedule page is flawed and results in an inconsistent experience for instructors depending on whether they had a class scheduled to begin in the first week of the term or not.

(Self Service > Faculty Center > My Schedule)

Current design:

If the instructor has a class scheduled in the first week of the term, the View My Weekly Teaching Schedule button will launch the View My Weekly Schedule page displaying the first week of the term regardless of what the current date is. If the instructor instead does not have any classes scheduled in the first week of the term, the View My Weekly Teaching Schedule button will then launch the View My Weekly Schedule page using the current date as a start point, showing the first week thereafter that has classes scheduled.

The result is that clicking this button will launch the View My Weekly Schedule page for a different date range for different instructors (even though the current date and the selected term are the same).

Instead, the same logic should be used in all cases.
