Accessibility - Incorrect Alt Text For Exclamation Image On To Do List (Doc ID 2674044.1)

Last updated on JULY 10, 2020

Information in this document applies to any platform.

This issue has been reported in Campus Solutions 9.2 PUM 17.

The Fluid To Do list page (SCC_TODO_LIST_FL) contains a Due Date column. When the current user has been assigned a task and that task is past its due date, the text 'Overdue' will appear in this column for that row accompanied by an Exclamation image. The alt text for this image is 'Overdue'.

In the above scenario this is correct and by design. The problem occurs when the assigned task has no due date and when Screen Reader Mode is enabled. In this scenario, the Exclamation icon will still appear in the Due Date column even though the task is NOT past due. The alt text for the image is still 'Overdue', which is misleading to any user relying on their screen reader software to read the contents of the page back to them.

This issue can be reproduced through the following steps:

  1.  Assign an activity guide to a user that has no due date.
  2.  Log in as the student with Screen Reader Mode enabled.
  3. Click on the Tasks tile.
  4. Observe the To Do List page: the corresponding row for this task will contain the text "No due date" in the Due Date column, but it is accompanied by the Exclamation image. The alt text for this image is 'Overdue'.
