Symptoms

When attempting to run the mass packaging process FAPPKBKG, the following error occurs:

The error might only occur in some instances - usually with a larger batch of students - and other times the process will run successfully. Even in the failed instances, many students may end up processed (changes committed to the database) before the error occurs, leaving only some students unprocessed. So eventually, by running the batch multiple times, everyone will process.

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

1. Navigate to Financial Aid > Awards > Mass Packaging > Select Students > Mass Packaging Select and run the process.
2. Navigate to Financial Aid > Awards > Mass Packaging > Assign Plans > Mass Packaging Assign and run the process.
3. Navigate to Financial Aid > Awards > Mass Packaging > Process Mass Packaging > Mass Packaging Process and run the process.
4. Click link to Process Monitor and note when process status goes to 'Error'.
5. Click the Details link for the process, then the link that says 'View Log/Trace', then the FAPPKBKG log file in the file list, and note the error message at the end of the file.
