E-QR: Query With 'Long Character' Type Expression For 'Sign' Type Field Logs Out The User From PIA (Doc ID 2720300.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 19, 2020

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise PT PeopleTools - Version 8.57 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When running the query from Query Manager with the 'Long Character' type expression for a 'Sign' type field, the Users are getting logout from PIA.

If you use the "Character" expression for the "Signature" field, then there are no issues.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Navigate to Reporting Tools > Query >Query Manager.
2. Create a new Query with record EX_SHEET_ADV.
3. Add expression for A.AMOUNT_APPLIED(sign type field) using "Long_character" as expression type.
4. Use this as field.
5. Run the SQL and observe User logs out.

Changes

As part of performance enhancement for PeopleTools version 8.57, the PS Query functionality does no longer allow using 'non-long character' columns set as 'Long_character'.

Due to changes applied at the database level for performance reasons in PeopleTools version 8.57, an expression set as 'Long Character' type can no longer contain a type field set as 'Sign'.
