BRON (NLD feature): XSD Incoming Messages Validation Causes Application Server Shutdown. (Doc ID 2728412.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 15, 2020

Applies to:

PeopleSoft Enterprise CS Student Records - Version 9.2 to 9.2 [Release 9]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When processing incoming messages, XSD validation triggers a shutdown of the application server which can be seen in the app server logs, such as:

In one example case, the issue was able to be worked around by increasing the number of instances on the app-server.  The usual number of instances was 2 or 3, and these were increased to 15. However, this institution found the approach was not foolproof and caused other problems. For a regular situation it was stable but crashing could still occur when a major amount of messages needed to be processed. But more importantly, each instance takes a significant amount of system resources. So, long term, the increased number of instances was deemed not sustainable and reverting back to the normal number of instances will be necessary.

Changes

In PUM13, specifically bug-id 26388708, functionality was delivered to support XSD validation for incoming messages for BRON (NLD feature).
